Wild-Blue-Yonder Customer Service

I thought about calling thispost Customer Service - Above & Beyond, but it's waaaay beyond THAT!

My wife Lisa works for Lockheed Martin. Last week she was having some issues with her office PC. She got a hold of Tech Support and a guy named Ivan. he helped her out big time.

Here's the e-mail thread:

Lisa:

Please let me know ASAP after rebooting your machine if the LM XYZ system is still not launching.

Always looking forward to serve,
Iván

Ivan,

It worked! Thanks for your help.Have a great day. Are you really in Puerto Rico? I was there once and it was lovely. A lot warmer than here in Minnesota where it’s "mucho frio" right now!!

Regards,
Lisa

Lisa:

Thank you for replying.

Indeed we are in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.

LM Service Desk has three units, Orlando, Denver and us here in PR.

I can only wish we can share a little bit of our nice weather with you - but it is up to mother nature!

At least the attached picture of a nearby location, which is also near to Ramey, Aguadilla (Borinquen) airport(BQN - local intl. airport, not San Juan’s) and another one of my dash[board] from last Friday <> will help you feel a little warmer..

Thank you once again for your call!!.

Always looking forward to serve,
Iván

Apple on Thinking Differently - Just Sell®... it's all about sales®

I saw this quote (Here's to the crazy ones...) somewhere a few weeks ago and added it to my personal collection of aphorisms. Now that the movie version is out, spend a minute and watch.

Advertising

I'm not sure where I stand regarding permissions on this, so I'm just going to give you a link.

If you talked to people...

Hugh Macleod is a cartoonist, true. But he's also an incredible blogger. He created English Cut for Savile Row bespoke tailor Thomas Mahon. Mahon's sales tripled in six months.

Do you know what a bespoke suit costs!? (Do you know what a bespoke suit is?)

English Cut... one of my favorite blogs.

Hugh Macleod... one of my favorite commentators. Sells good wine too.

The Power of Story

This is an incredible story!

Camera (a Nikon, of course) in underwater housing lost near Aruba - about 25 - 30 miles off Venezuela, and recovered in Key West.

Along the way, it's snagged by a sea turtle, who turns it on and films him- or her- self.

The detective story alone is worth the retelling. Click here to learn how the camera's finder tracked the real owners down. This is an amazing testament to creative thinking and the use of the internet.

Someone working in Nikon's marketing department needs to use this in their advertising.

Debunking the Original Idea Myth

Too many people - would-be entrepreneurs - think they HAVE to come up with an original idea before they can start a company, or even cash in on the idea.

Here's an excellent little article from Mary Ellen Tribby (Early to Rise, Working Moms Only) that speaks to that - and tells the real story.

The Myth of Branding: Why Entrepreneurs Should Focus on the USP | free newsletter

Here's a good article from one of my favorite e-mail newsletters, Early to Rise, on the myth of branding for the small business-person. It's a bit contrarian, which means it's right up my alley!
